He has worked with some of the world’s top brands for over ten years and now partners with destination marketing organizations undertaking self-initiated expeditions. His work has been featured in national and international publications including Matador Network, the Travel Channel, Hootsuite, The Weather Network, Canadian Geographic, CBC, Shaw TV, HYPEBEAST and Instagram.
After graduating from the University of Lethbridge with a B.F.A. New Media in 2006, Dax interned at The Vacuum in Nelson, BC, where he cut his teeth in the advertising world working on brand campaigns for Footlocker, Toyota Scion. From 2008-2010 he worked on the Mark’s (Work Wearhouse) national corporate rebrand, where he applied years of design aesthetic and strategic aptitude to successfully overhaul and refresh a Canada-wide brand. In 2012 Dax was on the Board of Directors and Creative Director for the Ad Rodeo Association, a non-profit celebrating creative excellence in Calgary. Prior to being on the Ad Rodeo committee, he operated an independent design agency for 6 years and he was the Creative Director for Original Joe’s.
In 2014 Dax had an out of body experience and began taking photos and documenting explorations in the outdoors on Instagram. After 19 weeks and 120 photos of Dax became one of Instagram’s Suggested User’s, being added to a list of top-choice accounts as chosen by Instagram. He then embarked on a 20-day expedition showcasing the Alberta Rockies, positioned around trying new activities in the outdoors. In 2015 Dax embarked on an expedition across the Alberta Badlands and spent time trekking in Jasper, Alberta. He became a Suggested User by Instagram again in November 2015.
When not exploring in the Canadian Rockies, Dax lives in Calgary.
